Messi Surpasses Telmo La Liga Record

Lionel Messi set La Liga scoring record of 253 goals with a hat trick in the 5-1 win over Sevilla on Saturday. The previous record was held by former Athletic Bilbao striker Telmo Zarra. Zarra scored 251 goals in 277 games and messi surpasses that in 289 appearances with his hat trick on saturday.

“We are all very happy and of course also for Leo,” Xavi, the Barça captain, said. “He has achieved an amazing and historic record.”

Messi leveled the record in the 21st minute of the game with a typically breathtaking effort before netting again on 72 minutes to make it 252. The Argentina international completed his hat trick with 12 minutes remaining and now stands at 253 Liga strikes.

Messi’s team-mates picked him up and threw him into the air several times. His admiring fans at the Camp Nou wildly cheered their talisman. It takes him 10 seasons to overhaul Zarra since his first La Liga goal in May 2005.

Messi also has a share of the Champions League scoring record, having equalled Raúl’s haul of 71 goals this month, and he could overhaul it in Tuesday’s game at Apoel Nicosia.
“Messi has something magical about him when the ball touches his feet,” the former Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has said. “It’s as if it has landed on a bed of feathers.”

Ancelotti claims DI Maria sometimes lose control on ball

Di Maria often gets his own team in trouble by losing the ball

Di María was sold to Manchester United for a British record £59.7m from Real Madrid. His place at Santiago Bernabeu was replaced by James Rodríguez.

The 26-year-old played a key role in Madrid's successful Champions League campaign last term and was the man of the match in their La Decima Champions League triumph in May, when Atlético Madrid were beaten 4-1 in extra-time. Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti has claimed the Argentina international could often upset the rhythm of his side by losing the ball.

In the recent past Manchester United manager Van Gaal replaced Di María after 71 minutes in Manchester United’s 1-0 win over Crystal Palace, saying of the Argentinian: “He has played in a very small space and he is a dribbler. But sometimes you cannot dribble, you have to make it a pass game and Di María is not a player who wants to give a pass every time he gets the ball Therefore he lost the ball a lot of times and that was not good for the balance of the team.”

The former Manchester United midfielder Paul Scholes too has claimed that Di María is not in “the same happy mood” that he showed at Real.

"Di Maria could take matches by storm with his energy, but he also used to lose control sometimes, misplacing important passes," Ancelotti told Onda Cero.

Ancelotti when ased about Maria’s replacement by James Rodríguez said, "People should think twice before saying that James can fill Di Maria's boots, because they're very different players."

Paul Scholes: Maria is unhappy at Old Trafford

Former Manchester United midfielder Paul Scholes believes that the star signing  Angel Di Maria seems unhappy at Old Trafford.

The Argentina international joined the Red Devils in a British-record €75 million deal. He earns £200,000-a-week salary at Old Trafford and has scored three times in his eight Premier League appearances to date.

Despite an encouraging start to life with the 20-time English champions, though, Scholes believes that the winger has not is one of a number of United players who needs a lift after a winless run of three matches.

Paul Scholes also insisted Manchester United must improve their performances under Louis van Gaal and says their return of 13 points from the first 10 games of the season is “not good enough”.
 Angel Di Maria
The former midfielder wrote in The Independent "My concern is that the mood among the United players feels a bit low-key,".

"Preparing for the broadcast of the game (Real Madrid vs Liverpool) in Madrid this week, I watched reruns of last season and Angel Di Maria smiling broadly as he celebrated goal after goal with Cristiano Ronaldo.

"He doesn't seem to be in the same happy mood at United. It feels downbeat among the team."
