Mercedes' logo is a recognized symbol around the world. The three-star logo - known to signify the dominance on land, sea and air, was altered on Monday to celebrate Lewis Hamilton's F1 triumph. (Final 2014 standings).
Lewis Hamilton has described, “Greatest day of my life” after wrapping up the title with victory in Abu Dhabi. While Mercedes team-mate and title rival Nico Rosberg slipped out of the points after suffering an electronics failure on his Mercedes W05, Hamilton cruised to victory – and his second title.
"This is the greatest day of my life. 2008 was special but the feeling I have now is way past that. It's the greatest feeling I have ever had,” said an emotional Hamilton on the podium.
A day later, Mercedes' official Facebook page paid rich tributes to the 29-year-old driver and thanked him for his efforts.
"Congratulations Lewis! You've won the 2014 Formula 1 drivers' championship and, with the MERCEDES PETRONAS Formula One Team, cemented your place in history. Here's to your second world championship and the contructors' title! We've only just begun."
Hamilton finished the season with 384 points, ahead of teammate Nico Rosberg, who finished with 317 points. Mercedes team was the undisputed champion with a total of 701 points - 296 points ahead of second-placed Red Bull.
Two-time world champion Lewis Hamilton said Monday he is determined to keep winning Formula One titles after his triumph in Abu Dhabi.
Hamilton's victory, after Mercedes teammate and season long rival Nico Rosberg made a poor start from pole position and then suffered mechanical problems on his way to finishing 14th, added a second title to the first won in 2008.

Mercedes formula one boss Toto Wolff wants to get in a long term contract with Lewis Hamilton as soon as possible and also wants to keep Nico Rosberg in the team for the foreseeable future. Nico Rosberg's contract was extended earlier this year and considered him to be a valuable part of the team.
"We want him very much to stay for many more years. He’s great for the team, he’s part of the family, the relationship we all enjoy is more than just a professional racing relationship between driver and team. It's on a different level," Mercedes motorsport head Toto Wolff told reporters ahead of the season-ending race.
Currently, the pair are set to race together once again next year, despite clashing on and off track and the intensity of their championship fight also heated up. “The only thing the two are interested in is that they have the fastest race car possible. So I would say at the moment that we have a good situation," explained Wolff.
On the other hand Ferrari’s Fernando Alonso, the double world champion who is set to join McLaren next year when they start a new partnership with Honda, has made little secret of his interest in moving to Mercedes in 2016.
“Lewis is a very intelligent and mature person now who knows more about Formula One than many other managers out there," he said. "I think he can represent himself in a good way, he has good support from consultants he needs to have, be it legal or tax or whatever.
"He knows what he wants and is straight about it."
