Andy Murray, who won Wimbledon, last year was voted the 2013 Sports Personality of the year.
The BBC Sports Personality of the Year is an awards ceremony that takes place annually in December. Devised by Paul Fox in 1954, it originally consisted of just one, the BBC Sports Personality of the Year Award. The trophy for the BBC Sports Personality of the Year Award is a silver four-turret lens camera.
The trophy for the main award is a silver-plated four-turret lens camera. All of the BBC local regions hold their own independent award ceremonies, which take place before the main ceremony and are used to compile a shortlist for the BBC Sports Unsung Hero Award.
Hamilton won his second F1 world title in Abu Dhabi and is in the race of getting the prize. Bale, who helped Madrid win the Champions League last season in his first year and US PGA Championship winner McIlroy, a key member of the European team that retained the Ryder Cup against the United States, is also in the race of BBC award.
If McIlroy win BBC award then he will be the first golfer to win the award since Nick Faldo in 1989.
Athlete Jo Pavey, dressage star Charlotte Dujardin, boxer Carl Froch, visually impaired skier Kelly Gallagher, swimmer Adam Peaty, gymnast Max Whitlock and skeleton bob racer Lizzy Yarnold all are in the nominated top 10 list of BBC award.
Bookmakers have Northern Ireland's McIlroy as the early front runner and William Hill's spokesman Rupert Adams said: "Even at this early stage it looks like a two horse race and Rory is already a couple of lengths ahead."

Liverpool and Tottenham preparing £25m bid for Schurrl

Schurrle will be allowed to depart the club in the upcoming transfer window

Schurrle linked up with the Blues in 2013 from Bayer Leverkusen for £18m. The 24-year-old has endured a dismal start and has found the back of the net only 11 times in 54 appearances. The German international become a peripheral figure in Chelsea despite shining for his country during their victorious World Cup campaign in Brazil.

Mourinho who has been keeping tabs on a number of attackers, most recently Real Madrid's Gareth Bale and Borussia Dortmund's Marco Reus has claimed that Schurrle will be allowed to depart the club in the upcoming transfer window.

Andre Schurrle
A Chelsea source revealed to The Sun, “José’s got to generate his own spending money in January but doesn't want to sell any of his top stars,"

"So he's looking at his fringe players and, on current form, Schurrle is the obvious choice.

"He's not a regular and his form has been woeful this season — a real drop despite having returned from Brazil on a high after winning the World Cup.

"He'd also bring in a good fee, giving Jose the funds to move into the market himself."

The German International Schurrle  is stalling on a new deal at Dortmund and is attracting interest from premier league giants including Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester City and Manchester United.

In news posted by Daily star it was also found that Premier League duo Liverpool and Tottenham have joined the hunt for Schurrle's signature.
